Grace Bay Beach

Turks and Caicos are popular for their beaches which are reputable for their exquisite turquoise ware and beautiful white sand. Images of the sea and sand are almost unbelievable to people who have never visited the islands. Visitors, however, know that the island’s beauty is even more enamoring when seen in person.

The most popular beach in the country is the world-famous Grace Bay Beach. Located off the coast of Providenciales, it is a serial award-winning beach that stretches for about 3 miles. The beach currently holds the award of World’s Leading Beach Destination from the World Travel Awards and the 2nd Best Beach in the World from Trip Advisors.

Grace Bay Beach offers one of the most beautiful sceneries in the world and the view is definitely best appreciated in person. The water is a beautiful shade of turquoise and the sand is soft, white, coarse and does not stick to one’s skin. The bay is protected by a beautiful barrier reef system that makes for wonderful scuba diving sites.

The beach is home to most of the luxury resorts in Providenciales including Beach Turks and Caicos. One of these is Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages and Spa.

Beaches Turks and Caicos Village and Spa Resort

Beaches Turks and Caicos stands out as one of the best all-inclusive family resorts on the island of Providenciales. It has a huge property, containing four villages. It is one of the more popular options for tourists visiting the island for the first time. And interestingly enough, their customers always come back (they have a return rate of over 85%).

The property is spread over 75 acres and houses over 750 rooms which vary in category from studio apartments to four-bedroom suites. The resort provides a magical escape from the hustle and bustle of city life for most visitors.

The resort is packed full with fun attractions including a full waterpark. It has been described as a small city within the island because of the numerous facilities and attractions. The architecture of each village is different and professionally done with influence from all over the world. Improvements are made consistently within the property to keep it looking fresh. There is also consistent landscaping to ensure that the place looks beautiful always.

Customer service is another area of strength of the resort. The workers are usually kind and take pride in their work. They are respectful and very honest, they even have a no tipping policy. Childcare is included as one of the services at the resort especially for parents with very young kids who want some time away for themselves. That too is done with much care and excellence.

With over 20 restaurants and bars on the resort, foods and drinks are also a major attraction. The restaurants come in varying forms, from fast food to buffets and even food trucks. And not only is the food plentiful, but it also tastes great. Many dishes are served from local to international. You can also get several varieties of wine and drinks including premium spirits like Don Julio and Johnnie Walker Black Label. Some of the restaurants even have dress themes for customers to wear to better their experience.

The resort also has several pools and they are all wonderful. All of them are masterfully designed and the water kept clean. The pools come in different shapes and sizes depending on the village you find yourself in. Some villages have large communal swimming pools where people can meet up, take long swims and play games. Others have private ones where people can privately enjoy short swims and a sunbath.

Beaches Turks and Caicos Village Review

All four villages in Beaches Turks and Caicos have very different features. From architecture to landscaping, to facilities to restaurants, even to the activities that are carried out within the villages.

The Choice on what place to stay in during a vacation to the resort largely depends on what the user wants and their budget.

Here is a review of the four locations:

  • Caribbean Village

Also known as Caribbean and Seaside Villages, Caribbean Village was the original village in the Beach Turks and Caicos resort. Although its buildings and rooms are older than those in the other three resorts, it still offers excellent service to its guests. The architecture consists of condominium-style buildings and smaller bungalow-style rooms. The region containing the smaller sized rooms is frequently referred to as the ‘Seaside Village’. The buildings have been well maintained over the years and the landscaping stands out as one of the best on the resort.

The village is populated by single-story bungalows. Sheds made from marble or wrought-iron and cast-iron gas lamps also add a decorative element to the village. The single-story bungalows that populate the area offer the advantage of being able to observe and enjoy the open sky. The setting makes for a very romantic and charming sunset watch.

Being the oldest village in the resort, the rooms in the Caribbean village are the cheapest on the resort. However, the they offer very easy access to the beach and sea trips. The resort has two pools which though are the smallest in the resort are large enough for visitors to go for a swim without running into someone.

The Iguana pool attracts the most attention, especially from young people. It has a volleyball net which allows for mini-sporting events and games and is the best place to be if you are looking to mingle and have a fun time.

The cascade pool, on the other hand, attracts more of a different crowd. It has a waterfall right in the middle and a manmade cave that is fun for kids to play in and explore. The pool is L-Shaped with the top of the L connected to Arizona’s restaurant. The structure is surrounded by lounge chairs where people can lay and enjoy a sunbath. It also has a hot tub and a swim-up bar where the pool meets the restaurant. You can easily swim up the pool and order a drink to quench your thirst.

The village is always full of activities so, visitors are guaranteed a fun time. It has shuffleboard and basketball courts for sports lovers. There are also water activities like boat rides, kayaks, catamarans, and paddle boards during the day for those who are interested.

Lovers are not left out either, the spot has semi-private sheds with luxurious couches where they can observe breath-taking sunsets over Grace Bay. The illuminated pools and gas lamps that light up the village also make for a very romantic scenery. The pier also becomes a romantically lit bar once it is evening so that lovers can enjoy a good time.

Every Friday night, the village’s Treasure Beach hosts a bonfire and beach party for all guests. The party starts around 6 pm and features several skits and contests that guests can participate in. There is also a buffet service for guests covering a very wide range of meals. Treasure Beach is located at the far end of the village and also hosts beach volleyball players during the daytime.

There are several restaurants in the village, each catering to different types of needs. Most of the foods obtainable are seafood due to the island’s proximity to the sea. Schooners Seafood Grill is regarded are the finest restaurant in the area for getting fresh fish. You can, however, enjoy wood-fired pizza at Bella Napoli Pizzeria. If you are looking for something more reserved and exclusive, you can check out Sapodillas Caribbean Cuisine. They open for dinner hours only and require you to wear an evening dress.

  • French Village

As the second addition to the resort, the village offers a simple, countryside style in its architecture. The spot sustained massive damage during Hurricane Irma in 2017 but was restored with precision. It is the farthest village from the beach, however, it is the closest to Pirate’s island – a waterpark for Kids to play around in.

Rooms in the French village are usually the least expensive of the rooms on the resort. They, however, offer the best deals on rooms for visitors on a tight budget or those who intend to spend a long time at the resort. The rooms offer more privacy than other villages except for Key West because of the sparse population. Most rooms on the ground floor also have walk-out patios.

The French Village has a big rectangular pool for visitors to enjoy – one of the best in the resort. There is also a smaller pool for kids just beside the main pool. The structure has a pavilion with a heated whirlpool on the far end, the pavilion is also a great place to get a view of the entire village. The pool also has a swim-up bar where you can order drinks and take back in the water. There are a lot of chairs and cabanas on the side where visitors can sit and relax.

The French Village is home to a 45,000 square foot waterpark. The park is located right in the heart of the village and is a wonderful place for Adults and Kids to have fun on slides. The waterpark is a major source of entertainment for families on the resort. It features three large water slides, two smaller slides, a surf simulator, and a lazy river and lots of other side attractions.

There is an entertainment stage at the far end of the village that brings a crowd every evening. This is where most of the visitors to the resort enjoy their evenings so it makes for a good place to mingle too. There are daily fitness camps for interested participants. Fitness enthusiasts may also be interested in the Red Lane Spa and Fitness Centre. You can also play a soccer game on Fridays within the village.

French village has more restaurants than the other places in the resort with a total of 6 and is also home to some of the best food at the resort. The spot also has two food trucks: Mr. Macs where you can get several varieties of the world-famous macaroni and cheese and Curls ‘n Swirls where you can get shakes and frozen yogurt. Curls ‘n Swirls are reputable for serving the best ice-cream at the resort and are an absolute favorite with kids.

The village is home to Le Petit Chateau which is probably the best restaurant at the resort. They open for dinner hours only and require you to wear evening wears. Kimonos oriental cuisine is another top-notch restaurant that opens just for dinner in the village. Café de Paris, another restaurant in the village is also reputable for having the best coffee.

  • Italian Village

The newest one among the villages, Italian village is the heartbeat of the resort. The architecture is almost fantasy-like with marble, tiles, ornamental metalwork, fountains and statues. The place is the most visited in the resort and is very lively, providing fun-seekers with the ultimate experience.

Being the newest and most beautiful village in the resort, the rooms are the most expensive. One thing that makes the rooms popular is the luxury and comfort. There are also rooms for all categories including some with bunk beds for large families. The village can be very loud especially during the day but the rooms are guaranteed protection from the noise by their soundproof sliding doors.

Italian village has the biggest swimming pool in the resort and this attracts people from other places. The pool is surrounded by lounge chairs that get filled up quickly during the day. There are hot tubs and a swim-up bar on one side of the pool similar to that at the Cascade pool in the Caribbean village. You can get an excellent view of the resort from the crow’s nest above the pool.

The pool is always full of activities and parties. It is the single most vibrant place on the resort during the day and is a great choice to meet new people and mingle. Some of the activities include line dancing, water aerobics and water balloon tosses for kids.

There is a wide range of entertainment, the Cricketer’s pub offers a game room with dart boards and billiards for those who like indoor games. Virtual gamers can also enjoy video games at the Xbox Play Lounge. There is a ‘choo choo train’ for children that runs through all the villages. There is also a nightclub named Club Liquid on the outskirts of the village which serves alcohol to only 21-year olds and above.

The spot has two bars, one at the end of the village pool and the other beneath a marble cupola at the village entrance. The pool at the entrance is the place to get drinks than the one at the pool mostly due to a large number of people at the pool during the daytime.

There are 5 restaurants in the village where you can get a nice healthy meal. Mario’s Italian Cuisine is the only place which offers buffet style service. Interestingly, they are open to all of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also have a themed seating section for kids.

Dino’s Pizzeria Italiana is another interesting place to check out. They open for seated dining from lunch hours until early evening. The spot is then converted to an Indian restaurant by for dinner. The Bombay club also offers Indian cuisines and is opened for dinner only.

Cricketer’s pub is an English-styled restaurant that also has a full bar inside. They also have a game room and open from lunch until late into the night.

  • Key West Village

Key West Village is the most laid-back and relaxed place on the resort. Named after an island in Florida, the spot has the resort’s only apartment-styled accommodation. The apartments all come with a washer, dryer and a kitchen. It is the closest of all the villages to the ocean and offers the best beach sunset views. The strip of beach in front of the village offers the least noisy and populated of all the villages.

Originally owned by The Veranda Resort and Residencies, the rooms in Key West Village have a different feel to those in the other spots on the resort. A person with a keen eye may easily notice that the rooms were not primarily built for resort living. However, the rooms are very luxurious and flashy but come pricey.

Accommodation at Key West Village comes on different formats including apartment complexes, row-houses and even detached private rooms depending on the budget of the visitor. Most of the rooms have decks, balconies or patios with some even having their own private pool and outdoor beds. The rooms here are the most private on the resort.

Unlike other villages, Key West does not have a large community pool. However, there are a lot of small pools around. The Infinity pool is the biggest pool and is what most families with young kids use. This is because it has a very shallow section in one end.

There is also an adult-only pool not too far away with a small bar that serves beer, soda, and water. Most pools in the village are rarely crowded because most of the crowd’s flock towards those in the Italian and Caribbean villages. So, the pools make for a pleasant place to enjoy a quiet sunbath.

While this particular village is usually laid back and relaxing, it does not lack entertainment resources. There are a tennis court and a croquet lawn for people who want to burn some sweat and an oversized chess board for interested players. The village also has live music beside a fire pit every night. It makes for a nice place to dance or just sit and relax depending on the mood. Music is also played at the infinity pool near the Bayside restaurant.

Key West Village has just one bar. It is located between the infinity pool and the Bayside restaurant. All of the three restaurants in the village enjoy an ocean view and provide live music for their customers. This makes them perfect places for romantic nights. The ocean view allows customers to enjoy sunsets while enjoying some of the best meals on the resort.

Bayside restaurant is probably the most popular of all three restaurants. It offers an international buffet and has a sushi bar renowned for its rolls. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sky Restaurant offers the best sunset view in the village because of their strategic positioning overlooking Grace Bay. Neptunes is the last restaurant and offers seafood dishes and a couple of American favorites.
